The quest for world-class diving and the call for adventure led this time to Indonesia. On the other
side of the planet and 'down under', it took 6 flights (over 11,000 miles) to reach the ultimate destination
of WaKaToBi.
Indonesia itself is a vast equatorial archipelago of 17,000 islands extending over 3,200 miles (East to West) between
the Indian and Pacific Oceans in Southeast Asia. The largest islands (Sumatra, Java, Bali, Sulawesi, Indo Borneo, and
Papua) are mountainous with dense rain forests. Located along the 'Ring of Fire, Indonesia has approximately
120 active volcanoes. Most smaller islands belong to larger groups, like the Spice Islands, or WaKaToBi (named
after the main islands in the archipelago: WAngiwangi-KAledupa-TOmia-BInongko.
Indonesia, the world's fourth most populous nation, is 87 percent Muslim—and the largest Islamic country, though
it is a secular state. Indonesians are separated by seas and clustered on islands.
